Old World Map of Classical Antiquity 1880 very large map of the world Ptolemy Herodotus

For sale is an impressive, large French map of the world as it was known in classical antiquity. Inset maps of the world maps of Ptolemy and Herodotus are shown at the bottom. The map is hand-colored.

Dimensions: 60 x 82 cm (very large for an antique map)

Condition: The paper is slightly discolored due to age and also has brown age spots. There is a small 1 cm tear in the bottom margin, which has been repaired on the back with acid-free tape. There is a stain in the left margin and a stain in the bottom margin. The map has a centerfold, as issued. In the lower half of the map, next to the centerfold, there is a second fold line.
