For sale is an antique print of the third Heiligewegspoort gate and its accompanying bridge in Amsterdam, seen from outside the city. This city gate, designed by Jacob van Campen, was built between 1636 and 1638 to replace the wooden Second Heiligewegspoort gate. After the Fourth Expansion and the construction of the Leidsepoort (1664), this building lost its function as a city gate and was demolished that same year. The engraving is highly detailed; see the photos. It is very suitable for framing.
Dimensions: The paper measures 22 x 29 cm. Image: 12 x 15 cm
Condition: The print has two vertical fold lines, as issued. A number is written in the upper right corner. The paper is browned along the edges.
Origin: Description of Amsterdam - Wagenaar - circa 1770
